Top 6 Metaverse Use Cases & Applications across Industries

metaverse use cases

The term ‘Metaverse’ debuted in the last decade of the 20th Century with Neal Stephenson’s best-seller “Snow Crash”. This book imagined a world “metaverse” as a virtual realm where people enter with their digital avatars, often to escape the hardships of their dystopian reality.

Since then, it has been capturing imaginations and evoking interests around the globe. However, this interest started turning into a frenzy when the idea of a decentralized world entered public discourse.

Investors discovered lucrative investment avenues in the form of digital assets that required no intermediary – NFTs, cryptocurrencies, digital real estate, and others. These assets constituted the crucial underlying part of the Metaverse.

The Elements of Metaverse

In less than a decade, the value of these virtual assets appreciated to astronomical levels and made many millionaires in the process.

Consider Decentraland as an example. Launched in 2017, it is a Metaverse platform that offers parcels of digital land for sale. In its early years, the land parcels were sold for about $20, while the MANA, its cryptocurrency, stood at $0.02. Ever-since then, select land parcels have reached valuations of more than $3.5 million, while the cost for MANA hovers close to $1 at the time of writing this article.

This frenzy further turned into hysteria when big corporates from across industries started rolling out major projects. Millions of dollars started flowing into this digital world, and this shared digital space started taking the center stage.

Now, businesses across the board are exploring ways to enter this new virtual world and seize the opportunities it hoards. After all, Metaverse is a limitless and high in creativity alternative to the real world where anything can be done.

This blog tries to share ways to turn this virtual world can into a businesses opportunity. We share our top use cases where Queppelin’s team worked to help businesses achieve growth and expansion. We developed various Metaverse experiences either on popular Metaverse platforms like The Sandbox or as customized stand-alone Metaverses.

So, without much delay, let’s swoop down on the discussions.

Here are Top 6 Metaverse Use Cases that Queppelin has developed

Advertising Agency: Building a Global Office on the Sandbox Metaverse

Metaverse can be a great place to have a presence and reach out to prospects on a global level. It expands your network and, thereby, expands your net worth. You can catch up with people from around the world or they can visit your metaverse for their requirements, business or otherwise.

Queppelin developed a virtual office for Pulse Advertising, one of the leading influencer marketing agencies globally. They wanted to have their office on The Sandbox and for this, they purchased a LAND as well.

We built a three-storied building wherein each story is representing one of their offices in different countries. Interestingly, the interior of the Metaverse office was a replica of these offices in reality making it more relatable and intriguing for existing as well as new clients.

Pulse Advertising planned this virtual place for hold meetings, and conferences and organize events. They wanted people to visit their metaverse from around the world. Plus, they wanted their employees in different location to coordinate and collaborate with each other for day-to-day business processes. This platform served all their purposes.

Building such an infrastructure on the Metaverse platform requires a fair amount of experience and expertise. We utilized the tools offered by the platform i.e. VoxEdit and GameMaker.

Gaming: Creating a Metaverse Game on The Sandbox Platform

Gaming is yet another door opener for new business opportunities. And when it comes to creating a metaverse game like that on The Sandbox, it is also a great opportunity to earn cryptocurrencies. This is because The Sandbox platform allows users to create gaming experiences as well as trade the game-based NFTs on its NFT marketplace.

Queppelin developed a breath-taking game on the said metaverse platform. It was a third-person action-adventure game where the protagonist has to traverse a mind-boggling labyrinth. He has to fight demons and monsters made out of Lava and kill them with his sword to earn rewards and glory. Visitors from around the world can come and enjoy it.

Queppelin has gained expertise in developing Metaverse games that help their clients earn high returns in the form of cryptocurrencies. Here, apart from the above-mentioned tools i.e. VoxEdit and GameMaker, we also utilized The Sandbox Marketplace to trade in the gamed-based NFTs created in the process.

Gaming & Entertainment: Theme Park on Decentraland Metaverse

On the same lines, Queppelin developed a metaverse on Decentraland, a browser-based 3D virtual world. Here, people can buy virtual plots of land as NFTs. It is created on top of the Ethereum blockchain and operates on MANA cryptocurrency.

Queppelin developed an elaborate Amusement park on the Decentraland incorporating all the features that one would find in a real amusement park.

The attractions include a lighthouse at one end of the park with toy booths scattered all over the place. There were varieties of rides and carousels built with great detail. At the center of the park, there was a giant Ferris wheel covered with colorful lights.

Such projects demand great expertise to render higher precision as is evident in the above video. Else, they may fail to hold ground in the eyes of Metaverse visitors.

Project on Customized Metaverses

Customized Metaverses are the ones that are created on-demand. They are stand-alone environments that are not built over any particular platform as we saw in the above examples. Hence, they save you from spending a fortune to purchase land before you even start building your Metaverse. This is a huge advantage as the experience is similar to other Metaverse platforms but the cost is light comparatively.

Jewelry: Launching Tanishq’s Rivaah Jewelry Collection in the Metaverse

At the point where we stand today in terms of technological advances, marketing your product on Metaverse can bring numerous benefits. Apart from a widespread reach, it makes you a trend-setter in your industry and brings you into the headlines. One of the best examples is that of Tanishq.

Queppelin developed a Metaverse for Tanishq, a Tata company and the biggest jewelry retailer in India. They sought to launch their polki-based jewelry collection titled Rivaah in a Metaverse setting.

Queppelin joined them as a tech partner to conduct the first-ever jewelry exhibition in Metaverse.

For the event, a 3D hall was built hovering in the space with stars all around. The hall was elaborately decorated with metal arches, lights, and other decorative elements to showcase the collection.

Renowned personalities from around the world attended the launch. There were journalists from big media houses, industry leaders, and other dignitaries in their 3D virtual avatars. Notably, the 3D avatars matched their real-life counterpart in terms of physical appearances.

We helped them organize a press conference to address questions surrounding the collection, in particular, and the jewelry industry, in general.

We also provided interoperability between the Metaverses and the AR experience with Vossle. The participants can attend the event in the virtual setting and try the virtual jewelry through AR filters by just scanning the QR provided along with the virtual jewelry collection. It is also worth mentioning here that the 3D jewelry models were exact replicas of real pieces of jewelry.

The event was a roaring success. It garnered a lot of media attention not just because it was a powerful move by an industry leader but also because it was on an uncharted platform of the Metaverse. The apparent aim of the launch was to make the farthest reach possible and, with the metaverse underpinning the efforts, the goal was reached and surpassed.

The resonance is being felt across industries and the Metaverse is the new battleground.

Information Technology: IT Corporate Office in the Metaverse

Queppelin built its own metaverse corporate office way back in the pre-covid period as proof of concept. It was to make a point that if we can do it for ourselves, we can do it for you.

It was just like a real-world office with wall arts and decors. People could join it with or without a VR headset. They can access their file, work on their projects, submit their work, and much more. They can gather in a virtual meeting room for important discussions.

However, we could see the best use of this office only when the lockdown restrictions got imposed. This virtual office proved to be a life savior during those times. Not only did it break the monotony of 2D video meetings, but it also offered a sense of togetherness in a shared space making interactions more lively and engaging.

Be the casual coffee meetups or enthusiastic training sessions, or intense brainstorming, all of our gatherings took place in this metaverse office only. We could not believe the great values it added in terms of performance by keeping the morale of the employees high. More importantly, it helped them outweigh the mental stress posed by the movement restriction of lockdown.

As of 2020, 30% of employees around the world work remotely, and 80% would recommend the same to their friends.

Working from home is the new model of working and we are gradually moving towards a setup where working from home will be the new normal. Here, having a metaverse office will contribute a great deal. So, if you want to experience this new possibility feel free to reach out to us.

Retail Store: Create an Apple Store for British Telecom in Metaverse

We offered our Metaverse expertise to create a Virtual Apple Store for British Telecom(BT). BT is a London-based multinational holding company with a presence in around 180 countries. It is primarily active in the telecommunication sector and is the largest provider of broadband, fixed-line, and mobile services in the UK.

The project was an effort to bring a never-seen-before experience in the times of pandemic. Physical movements were restricted due to lockdown imposition, and people were mainly shopping online. BT wanted to make the online shopping experience more engaging for their customers. So, discussions led to the creation of an Apple store in the virtual space where users can explore different Apple products.

Working towards this end, we created a virtual store located in a beautiful grassland. Once the users enter this virtual space, they can interact and shop for different products such as iPhones, iPads, Macbooks, and others showcased all across the store. The efforts were directed toward making the shopping experience as realistic as possible.

Our team created 3D models of Apple products and placed them within the 3D virtual store. As you can see in the video, in one area of the store, you will find Macbooks and iMacs, while on the other side of the store, there are iPhones from different series to choose from. Similarly, there were Apple watches and Airpods for visitors to explore. We purposefully kept the poly count low so that the experiences could run smoothly on low internet bandwidth.

Moreover, we added the ability to run advertisements and product demos on the store walls. This further enhanced the user experience as they could get more information about the product by consuming the videos.

Lastly, users could visit the purchase link once they find a suitable product.

Conclusion

Metaverse is an amazing place to be and do business. You can have your presence on a popular Metaverse platform where millions of visitors come daily to experience something new. Here, you can create your own 3D virtual infrastructure and offer some of the most creative experiences so that more and more users love to be at your place.

You can also use it to attract millions of gamers around the world by creating a game they never played before. Create NFTs based on your game and offer them on the marketplaces to let gamers keep them as souvenirs and flash them at every chance they get.

Similarly, you can use it to showcase your product and services as part of your marketing efforts. Let the users try them in the metaverse before they buy them in the real world. These practices have proved to enhance sales and reduce returns to an unbelievable extent.

Moreover, you can test your new product in the most cost-effective way as well. Create something new, throw it out for users to explore it in the metaverse, and receive instant feedback at the end. Thus, not only do you get a genuine take on the demand but you can also check whether your product fulfills the demand. If not, then streamline your product on the basis of feedback and claim the leading spot in the market with ease.
