VR Training Program for Solar Panel Installation

About Project

Our client, who deals with Solar panels, wanted to offer virtual reality training on the subject. The goal was to offer an exhaustive training program on panel installation for the experiential and lasting learning of employees.

Our VR experience trained the employees through a step-by-step process. From cement-laying to combiner box integration, employees were trained with proper guidance and instructions. What’s more, we developed a special grip system for a highly interactive training session.

Virtual Reality to Aid Business Trainings

Training plays a highly critical role in successful business operations. Not only do employees learn to perform their tasks efficiently but also to do them safely. The safety component becomes even more important in job roles dealing with risks like electricity.

Like any other power generation system, Photovoltaic systems have a potential risk of electric shock too. VR training is an amazing tool to train employees through real-life scenarios and make them ready for all sorts of on-job challenges.

Our VR training for solar panels trained the employees thoroughly with features like a haptic grip system, rope physics, and combiner box integration to reduce the chances of mishaps. It offered better clarity of the concepts, their practical application, and real-world skill development.

Project Challenges

1

Intricate Designing with Rope Physics

The project required training in unstable scenarios, thus the experience had to be intricately designed and detailed right up to a single wire. To accurately emulate real-world conditions, we added aspects like Rope physics. Thus, any shortcomings or mishandling can be spotted and corrected during the training itself.

2

Hyper interactivity with unique Haptic Feedback

Another obstacle was to make the training highly interactive, realistic, and engaging. We developed a unique grip system for the experience with haptic feedback. It gave the trainees the sensation of holding the equipment in their hand and if they lose the grip in the real world they will drop the equipment in the virtual world.

3

Research on the installation process

Our development team needed to first thoroughly understand the process before they started creating the VR experience. We ran thorough research to understand the different equipment and processes involved. This resulted in a comprehensive training system right from cement-laying to fixing and erecting a stand on it, placing solar panels over the stand, and circuit designing.

4

Precision Testing

The project required high precision as we made each and every model intractable including the wires involved. We ran multiple testing to ensure that each component was working properly and as per the client’s requirements.

The
Transformation

Our VR training program garnered appreciation from our clients as well as the trainees. It helped them understand the installation process as well as cautioned them on the dangers involved.

Experiential learning help trainees understand the concept and familiarized themselves with the equipment very fast. They felt more confident on the job and it also improved their job satisfaction. The result was a faster installation in a safer environment
