Designing AR Filters for the Largest Bank of Middle East - Emirates NBD

Our client, Emirate NBD, is a Dubai-based government-owned bank. It is the largest banking group in the Middle East & Turkey (MENAT) region in terms of assets that gross over $200 Billion. With more than 9,000 people, Emirates NBD is one of the largest employers in the UAE.


In order to capitalize on the latest trends in marketing strategies, they wanted to employ Augmented Reality to achieve their goals. They aimed to maximize their reach on online social platforms like Instagram and offer an engaging experience to their audience.

They were looking for the right technological partner with a good amount of prowess and experience who can help them achieve their pursuits with ease and perfection.

Hence, our proven dexterity in the relevant areas made our client land on Queppelin’s platform.


An end-to-end strategy was charted out by collaborating with their marketing team. We suggested a few options that they could utilize towards this end. We zeroed in on some Try-on experiences that celebrated Chinese New Year.

As 2022 is the Year of the Tiger according to the Chinese zodiac, we suggested utilizing it for the AR experience.

Hence, we made two Try-on experiences. One with the help of the Vossle platform for Web AR experience and the other was through Spark AR for Instagram.

Both of these experiences allowed the user to get their face painted with a tiger image. The difference was only in the target audience. While the previous one could be accessed by any user through their mobile browser, the latter was for the Instagram audience and could be accessed through the app only.

Similarly, under two different campaigns, we rendered our Spark AR development services to the client for the ‘Love or Money’ campaign and the Mother’s Day Campaign.

In the ‘Love or Money’ campaign, the user has to choose between love or money by tilting their head towards one of them. In the Mother’s day campaign, we wished all the mothers a very happy mothers day through our AR effect.

Both of these campaigns target the Instagram platform.


All these campaigns garnered huge success with 100K+ views and super high user engagement. The average interaction time was over a minute, a clear indication of users finding it attractive and amusing.

Our client was also pleased and satisfied with the results and we are looking for more collaboration in the future.
