Virtusa, a US-based Information Technology (IT) Company reached out to us in collaboration with British Telecom (BT), a renowned British multinational holding company.

The aim was to build an immersive shopping experience for their audience and stand out in the market. Our discussions with the client led to the creation of Digital Twin of the Apple Retail Store where users can navigate, explore, and purchase Apple products in different categories.

A Virtual Apple Store with a social component

Ever since shopping moved online, the social component moved out of it. People do not enjoy online shopping with friends and family instead it is a solitary experience. This is where our visual store stood out.

We utilized Queppelin’s own VR cum Metaverse development platform, GatherInVR, to develop a VR Store having a social element. Here, users can explore the product, discuss and shop along with their friends making it a unique and memorable experience.

In the virtual store, all Apple products were available like iPhones, iPads, Macbooks, iMacs, Apple Watch, and Airpods for a comprehensive shopping experience. We built the guided Apple Store tour with a video calling facility along with an AI-aided music genre classification feature.

We optimized poly counts for a smooth running of the VR Experience even on lower internet bandwidths making the VR store accessible to a wider audience.

Based on the client’s request we included a media placement feature on store walls where the client could run advertisements, product demos, and other relevant videos based on requirements. Lastly, users could purchase the product by clicking on the link and buying it immediately.

Sophisticated User Journey Conceptualization

VR shopping is a fairly new phenomenon. To make it a success, it should be easy, intuitive, and impactful. Hence, a thorough conceptualization of the user journey was imperative. We took on the challenge and integrated intricate features like an information button, product visualization, product holding, demonstration, and website redirection, to name a few.

Video Calling Feature

For a highly social shopping experience, we included a video calling feature as well. Users can not only join virtually in an avatar, but they can also communicate via real-time video calling while in the virtual store. This feature was challenging to build, but our team successfully overcame it.

AI-based Real-time Music Genre Recognition

A unique feature we added to the Apple Virtual Store was music genre identification in real-time. We added this to increase interactivity in the virtual shopping experience. Our team used the Python language and integrated Artificial Intelligence technology to successfully include this feature.

Our clients were highly impressed and gave it the green light to deploy right away. The VR Experience garnered great popularity among the client’s user base.
